Erik Moen PT, Director
BikePT Gold Instructor
Biography:
In his own words: “I am a lifelong bicyclist. I remember my first times in the bike seat on the back of my parents’ bikes. I remember the pure excitement of seeing my very own first bike. I started by tearing up a bunch of Big Wheels in my neighborhood, and graduated to local bike races towing wooden hydroplanes with my Dad’s help—(Thanks Dad!). I built BMX jumps with my buddies out of new home construction scraps. My first competitive bike events in the mid-80s were triathlon relay teams, and I later started licensed bike racing at Pacific Lutheran University and University of Washington.”
Erik’s current clinical passion and experience began in his early racing days. Born with a foot/ankle/leg impairment required him to ask critical fit questions if he was to withstand the training necessary to compete against able bodied athletes. Bike fit processes were limited in the 1980s. Thus started his journey and quest to define and develop modern professional bike fitting standards.
Erik has a long history in nearly all aspects of bicycling at the highest levels of sport, including racing, coaching, Physical Therapy, Paracycling, and BikePT, as well as actively authoring numerous articles, speaking engagements, and serving on industry boards and committees. He is a supporting member of Cascade Cycling Club. Read more below.
